Getting Better at Getting Better

I am, famously, a bad judge of time when it comes to projects. I always think things will go WAY faster than they actually do, and I never account for real life happening. Well, maybe not never. But real life always seems to happen exactly when you don't want it to.

At any rate, it's been a long slog, but we're finally back in action after our "Big Summer Refresh" which is maybe now a bit of a "Big Fall Refresh," but still pretty big nonetheless. At first glance, it probably seems like not much has changed. We have a new design layout for our sticker sheets, some new graphics, a new logo (!!) -- all some fun, obvious things. We had three pretty good reasons for wanting to do a refresh, though, and you might not recognize them at first glance.

A picture of a rectangle shaped sticker sheet on a pink background. The sticker sheet has drawings of various breakfast items. An arrow points to a similar set of two square sticker sheets on a pink background. The sticker sheets have breakfast items on them.
Oh, and while some sticker sizes have changed, most are VERY close to their original sizes of Mini, Regular, and Large - and we have a brand new Jumbo size for all of your huge crafting needs!

1. Refusing to be an artist, improving nonetheless.

The biggest thing I wanted to tackle with this refresh was the fact that from the time we first started and I was using my existing graphic design skills to now, after several years with my faithful Apple Pencil and a now-out-of-date iPad, it turns out I've actually learned a few things about art. I always knew a little about art, obviously, but I've pretty staunchly refused to call myself an artist because, for the most part, all of my art feels like cute little doodles for fun. I'm thrilled to death people love these doodles, but it still doesn't make feel like a Serious Artist.

In spite of that, those few little things I've learned have made me look back at some of my older art and cringe in disbelief that I let any of that out in the world. Like, seriously, a huge thank you to everyone who bought stickers over the last few years with my wobbly lines and incomplete shapes. On one hand, I feel like that stuff had character, but I also knew i could do better. So I did.

A poorly hand-drawn blue envelope and yellow package, both with wobbly lines. An arrow points from the poorly drawn envelope and package toward a new version of the envelope and package with straight lines.
I spent a lot of time revisiting old art. I straightened lines, adjusted colors, added little details. In some ways it's bittersweet, I did kind of love the rough hewn look, but it's also pretty amazing to see how far my skills have come. I still don't think I'm the next great artist, but I'm pretty proud of how my weird little shapes have improved over time. So in addition to a new sticker sheet layout, you'll find many stickers have a new look altogether. You can get a look at the sheet referenced above with the Happy Mail Sticker Sheets, and I also recommend the new version of the Cozy Hobbies Sticker Sheets -- now with yarn!

2. The same products everywhere, no matter where you buy.

This is pretty straightforward, but something I can't believe it took us so long to do (and is something we'll be in the process of for awhile!) - for a long time, some of our products have looked different online from how they're offered at markets. Most notably, we've been selling our cards with rounded corners in person for literally years now but they've still only had regular corners online! So, as a part of this refresh, we're taking the time to make sure all our cards listed online have rounded corners and product listings that reflect all of the envelope colors we have available.

A white card that says "I'm sorry everything sucks" in black text, on top of a brown envelope with a black background. The card has pointed corners. A black arrow points to a similar image with a brown background, black envelope, and a card that says "I'm sorry everything sucks" with rounded corners on the card.

3. Price matters, even with a small business.

Last but absolutely not least, part of our sticker sheet redesign wasn't just about the art but about the price and making stickers available to as many people as possible. We took a look at what people were buying most often (you all REALLY like mini stickers!) and tried to figure out how we can fit more of those on one sheet.

Additionally, by changing the size of our sticker sheets, we've been able to make the price per individual sticker WAY cheaper and bring down the cost of all of our sticker sheets -- even clear and glossy stickers, which are now over $1.00 cheaper than the previous design!

This way we're creating less waste, more stickers, and making sure that we can offer all of the best deals to you all so we can all share in our love of stickers together.

We're really, unbelievably excited about this new chapter, and we hope everyone will love what we've done from here. We have SO many new products to bring you too, in addition to re-releasing some old ones once we're done revising them, so be sure to check back constantly for updates.

Thank you all for all of your support over the last four years, whether it's been here at our online store, over at our OG store on Etsy, or at a local event in Wisconsin. We've got nothing but appreciation for everyone who's helped us get this far.

With love and stickers,

Manda
